Breage and Praa Sands Twinning Association - NOT OPERATIONAL AT THE MOMENT
If you would be interested in resurrecting the association please contact Alan or Val (see below)
If you are interested in French, particularly Breton, culture, food, language, countryside or simply in making new friends, you might like to find out more about us. We are twinned with the small farming and holiday village of Brignogan-Plages on the Brittany coast about 25 miles west of the ferry port of Roscoff. The association has been operating for over 10 years and has members from the area around Breage, Praa Sands, Germoe, Ashton, Godolphin and Carleen but some members live outside this area and have chosen to join because of an interest in this area of Brittany. We have annual exchange visits, alternating between us visiting Brignogan and our Breton friends visiting us.
The general idea of twinning is to set up a relationship between similar communities in two countries, in our case small villages with farming, fishing and holiday interests, so that people can get to know each other, form friendships and enjoy cultural and social exchanges. Normally, each host community will provide accommodation in members’ houses and organise catering and entertainment during the visit. We try to make each other welcome in our normal environments and activities and so it’s not expensive to participate in the Twinning Association.
